Celebrating Labor Day with Gratitude and Giving – UCCW’s Clothing Donation Event

Every year, Labor Day offers a moment to pause and honor the dedication, effort, and resilience of all workers—the individuals whose hands, hearts, and commitment keep our families, communities, and society moving forward. At the United Community Center of Westchester (UCCW), we celebrate not only the work itself, but also the dignity, dreams, and unity that define the strength of our community.
In recognition of this meaningful day, UCCW hosted a Clothing Donation Event from September 2 to 5, welcoming neighbors to receive gently used clothing for men, women, and children—completely free of charge. The initiative, held at our center in 360 North Avenue, New Rochelle, was created to support families in need and to reaffirm our belief that everyone deserves access to basic necessities and a sense of dignity.
The event was filled with smiles, gratitude, and community spirit. More than 400 families visited throughout the week, finding clothing items that would bring comfort and relief, while also sharing in the joy of connection and mutual support. As we kicked off the event, we were reminded once again of the power of community—the power that emerges when people come together to help one another.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated, donated, and volunteered to make this initiative possible. At UCCW, we remain committed to strengthening our community through compassion, inclusion, and solidarity—values that lie at the very heart of Labor Day.

Celebrando el Día del Trabajo con gratitud y solidaridad – Jornada de Donación de Ropa en UCCW
Cada año, el Día del Trabajo nos invita a detenernos para rendir homenaje a la dedicación, el esfuerzo y la fortaleza de todas las personas trabajadoras, cuyas manos y corazones hacen posible que nuestras familias y comunidades sigan adelante. En el United Community Center of Westchester (UCCW) celebramos no solo el trabajo, sino también la dignidad, los sueños y la unión que nos mantienen fuertes como comunidad.
En reconocimiento a este día tan especial, UCCW organizó una Jornada de Donación de Ropa del 2 al 5 de septiembre, ofreciendo ropa en buen estado para hombres, mujeres y niños, totalmente gratis. La actividad, realizada en nuestro centro ubicado en 360 North Avenue, New Rochelle, tuvo como propósito apoyar a las familias que más lo necesitan y reafirmar nuestra convicción de que todos merecen acceder a lo esencial con dignidad.
El evento estuvo lleno de sonrisas, gratitud y un hermoso espíritu de comunidad. Más de 400 familias se acercaron durante la semana para recibir prendas, compartir momentos y fortalecer los lazos que nos unen. Al iniciar esta jornada, recordamos una vez más la fuerza de la comunidad, que crece cuando nos apoyamos mutuamente.
